A photo from the 70ies

Our bakery born in 1966, in Via Mameli n°6 (in a rue that now is a part of the actual Via Fiume). Our activity began when 2 brothers, Mauro and Pierangelo Magini, together with their rispective wifes, got a bakery from the Cooperativa del Popolo. This cooperative produced bread for all the people of the town thanks to their workers. The activity continued to work like a bakery for many years, producing only bread and pizzas; sometimes it was produced jam tarts and in november pan dei santi, a typical sweet that's still made today.

Sale e Pepe

In 1977 Mauro Magini and his wife left the activity, and the name passed from "Fratelli Magini" to "Panificio Caselli Iva". In 1986 began the transfer in Piazza Garibaldi: Pierangelo and his wife Iva Caselli decided to open a store that passed from being only a place of shopping to an active bakery. The transfer is a little revolution, began some years before with the production of ricciarelli, cantuccini and cavallucci (typical sweets of Siena). At the beginning of 90ies our bakery became also a pastry makery. In 2009 the activity passed to their sons Giampaolo and Gianna.

Foodies

Our activity was subjected to many attentions through the past years: in the first 90ies we were immortalized for a photo session made by a magazine called "Sale e Pepe", and in 2010 we were intoducted in the book "Foodies" of the prestigious italian guide "Gambero Rosso". In this book there are the 1000 places in Italy with the best food in circulation, and this book was also publicized with an article in the journal "La Repubblica", one of the most important newspaper in Italy. This is a very important result for a little activity like ours, because it's meaning that we are known not only in our province, but in all Italy and above.
